The Loebner Prize is awarded every year; it is based on the Turing Test, where the intelligence of a program is tested by getting it to communicate with a human being. Three medals are awarded: the gold medal and US$100,000 goes to any program which fools the judges into thinking it is a human being; silver and $25,000 to a program that convinces half the judges; and bronze and $2,000 to the most convincing entry.
