ChatNannies' AI credentials still on hold
The spaghetti hit the fan in March when New Scientist ran a story about ChatNannies - software packed with artificial intelligence that hunted for paedophiles in internet chat rooms.
Jim Wightman, the creator, claimed that by conversing with the chat-room participants, his "nanniebots" could identify predatory adults masquerading as children. He would then alert the police (New Scientist print edition, 20 March).
